JR. DANCE TEAM (10-12)
Dancers will primarily focus on learning jazz and contemporary dances. They will do extra performances along with our 2 studio recitals! They will also do 1 competition in the spring. Students must audition to secure a spot on the team. Ages for this team are 10-12 yrs old. Team members also need to register for the team technique class. Dancers will have so much fun learning more technique, growing as a team and dancer, and getting extra performance opportunities to show off their talents!

DRESSCODE:
-Stretchy/movable dance attire: leotard, tank top, or t-shirt with shorts/leggings. Hair in ponytail or bun (out of face). Tan jazz shoes and half-sole turners.
SR. DANCE TEAM (14-18)

MINI/JR DANCE TEAM TECHNIQUE
This class is a technique class for members of the Mini and Jr Dance Team members. This class will not learn a recital dance, but will instead focus on improving technique.

JR/SR DANCE TEAM TECHNIQUE
This class is a technique class for members of the Jr and Sr Dance Team members. This class will not learn a recital dance, but will instead focus on improving technique.

TAP TEAM (13+)
This class is the SDS Tap Team. It is for experienced tap dancers with 6+ years of tap experience and by audition only. They will do extra performances along with our 2 studio recitals! They will also do 1 competition in the spring. This is an amazing experience- tappers will love getting to learn lots of choreography and more opportunities to show their talents!

JR BALLROOM TEAM (10-13)
Ballroom dance is a set of partner dances which can be done both socially and competitively. Styles range from waltz, quickstep, cha-cha, samba, and many more! Dancers will learn different styles as well as proper dance position, footwork, and rhythm.
Students must audition to secure a spot on the team. Team members will get extra performing opportunities, including a ballroom competition!

-Clothes you can move in. Black ballroom shoes for boys, copper latin shoes with 2.2 inch heel for girls.

type of dance from native American origin characterized by
improvisation, syncopation, and usually a regular or forceful rhythm. Students will learn fluid and static body movement, isolating muscles, rhythm, jumps, leaps, turns and flexibility.
This class is for dancers with previous dance experience.

JAZZ 4 (14+)
A type of dance from native American origin characterized by
improvisation, syncopation, and usually a regular or forceful rhythm. Students will learn fluid and static body movement, isolating muscles, rhythm, jumps, leaps, turns and flexibility.
This class is for dancers with previous dance experience.

SR Contemporary (12+)
Contemporary is a type of dance with ballet emphasis, and modern and jazz influence. It can be fluid or abrupt with unpredictable changes in rhythms, speed and direction. Employs contract and release, floor work and improvisation. This class is great for intermediate to advance students.

BALLET 3 (11+)
An artistic dance form which is very disciplined using precise
and highly formalized set steps and gestures. Skills taught are posture,
alignment, balance, poise, grace, technique, steps and their names. Classical
ballet, which originated in Renaissance Italy and established during the 19th
century, is characterized by light, graceful, fluid movements.
This class is an intermediate/advance class that prepares dancers for more advance technique by laying a strong foundation, dancers should have prior ballet experience. This class can be repeated for several years.

BALLET 4 (13+)

This class is for students who are experienced in ballet and are already on pointe shoes, or close to getting their pointe shoes. Dancers need teacher approval to join the class. Students will continue to work on ballet technique, pointe technique, posture, alignment, and musicality. This class will not learn a recital dance, rather they will focus on learning correct pointe technique.

Tap dancing involves shoes with metal plates on the bottom to hear
the sounds. Students start with basics that get built upon and added to becoming more intricate and complicated that are used throughout all tap dancing levels.
Focus is on Sound and Technique, Rhythm and Timing, while learning steps, their names and how to incorporate them into choreography. As tappers advance an awareness is made of the different types snd styles of percussive dance.
This class is good for students who have had 3-4 years of tap experience.

their names and how to incorporate them into choreography. As tappers

HIP HOP B (10+)
Funky version of jazz, It includes a wide range of styles
primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and
made popular by dance crews in the United States. This class is great for dancers with some dance experience and can be repeated to better skills.
