JR. DANCE TEAM (10-12)

Dancers will primarily focus on learning jazz and contemporary dances. They will do extra performances along with our 2 studio recitals! They will also do 1 competition in the spring. Anyone can register online for this class, however students must attend the Placement Audition to secure a spot on the team. Auditions will be held August 4th, 1-2pm at the studio. Ages for this team are 10-12 yrs old. Dancers will have so much fun learning more technique, growing as a team and dancer, and getting extra performance time to show off their talents!

 

DAY AND TIME:

-Tuesday 5:30-6:45pm

DRESSCODE:

-Stretchy/movable dance attire: leotard, tank top, or t-shirt with shorts/leggings. Hair in ponytail or bun (out of face). Tan jazz shoes.

SR. DANCE TEAM (13+)

TAP TEAM (15+)

*(needs teacher approval)​​

This class is the SDS Tap Team. It is for experienced tap dancers with 6+ years of tap experience and by audition only. The Placement Audition will be held on August 4th from 1-1:30pm at the studio. Team members will get to perform in the studio recitals and multiple other local performances. They will also get to dance in a dance competition in the spring. This is an amazing experience- tappers will love getting to learn lots of choreography and more opportunities to show their talents!

-Friday 1:00-2:15pm

-Dance attire (stretchy clothes, leggings,...etc.) NO JEANS. Hair out of face, black tap shoes

CONTEMPORARY/JAZZ (12+)

This class has the best of both worlds with getting to do two complimentary styles: contemporary and jazz! (There is no level difference between class A and B).

 

Contemporary: A type of dance with ballet emphasis, modern and jazz influence. It can be fluid or abrupt with unpredictable changes in rhythms, speed and direction. Employs contract and release, floor work and improvisation. 

 

Jazz: A type of dance from native American origin characterized by
improvisation, syncopation, and usually a regular or forceful rhythm. Students will learn fluid and static body movement, isolating muscles, rhythm, jumps, leaps, turns and flexibility.

-Wednesday 4:00-5:00pm (A)

-Thursday 5:55-6:55pm (B)

-Form fitting clothes, socks, bare feet, or jazz shoes. NO JEANS. Hair pulled back.

JR. BALLROOM (9-12)

Ballroom dance is a set of partner dances which can be done both socially and competitively. Styles range from waltz, quickstep, cha-cha, samba, and many more! Dancers will learn different styles as well as proper dance position, footwork, and rhythm.

-Thursday 6:30-7:15pm

-Clothes you can move in. Closed-toed shoes.

SR. BALLROOM (13+)

Ballroom dance is a set of partner dances which can be done both socially and competitively. Styles range from waltz, quickstep, cha-cha, samba, and many more! Dancers will learn different styles as well as proper dance position, footwork, and rhythm.

BALLET 3 (10+)

An artistic dance form which is very disciplined using precise
and highly formalized set steps and gestures. Skills taught are posture,
alignment, balance, poise, grace, technique, steps and their names. Classical
ballet, which originated in Renaissance Italy and established during the 19th
century, is characterized by light, graceful, fluid movements.

This class is an intermediate class that prepares dancers for more advance technique by laying a strong foundation, dancers should have prior ballet experience. This class can be repeated for several years. 

​

DAY AND TIME:

-Thursday 4:50-5:50pm

DRESSCODE:

-Leotard, tights, skirt. Hair pulled back (ponytail or bun). Pink ballet shoes

class is an intermediate class that prepares dancers for more advance technique by laying a strong foundation. This class can be repeated for several years. â€‹

BALLET 4/Pointe (13+)

*(needs teacher approval)

An artistic dance form which is very disciplined using precise

This class is for students who are experienced in ballet and are already on pointe shoes. If dancers haven't taken the class before, they will need teacher approval to join the class. Students will continue to work on ballet technique, pointe technique, posture, alignment, and musicality. 

 

DAY AND TIME:

-Wednesday 5:00-6:15pm

DRESSCODE:

-Black leotard, pink tights, skirt, or spandex shorts. Hair pulled back (ponytail or bun). Pink ballet shoes

TAP PURPLE (10-12)

*(needs teacher approval)

Tap dancing involves shoes with metal plates on the bottom to hear
the sounds. Students start with basics that get built upon and added to becoming more intricate and complicated that are used throughout all tap dancing levels.
Focus is on Sound and Technique, Rhythm and Timing, while learning steps, their names and how to incorporate them into choreography. As tappers advance an awareness is made of the different types snd styles of percussive dance.

This class is good for students who have had 3-4 years of tap experience.

-Monday 4:50-5:35pm

TAP SILVER (12+)

*(needs teacher approval)

Tap dancing involves shoes with metal plates on the bottom to hear
the sounds. Students start with basics that get built upon and added to becoming more intricate and complicated that are used throughout all tap dancing levels.
Focus is on Sound and Technique, Rhythm and Timing, while learning steps, their names and how to incorporate them into choreography. As tappers advance an awareness is made of the different types snd styles of percussive dance.

Tappers in this class usually have had 5+ years of tap experience.

HIP HOP B (10+)

Funky version of jazz, It includes a wide range of styles
primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and
made popular by dance crews in the United States. This class is great for dancers with some dance experience and can be repeated to better skills.
